A New Take on Capturing Music
My music intends to reflect our lives as they are, including unintended consequences. As such, the goal of these recorded improvisations is to candidly represent live performance—not studio perfection. I strive to reduce distractions like out-of-tune notes and rhythmic stutters, but I do not anticipate having the resources nor desire to reach the level of precision most listeners are likely accustomed to.Sometimes this makes my music sound unpolished, but that is principally a part of what I am trying to communicate. Often, professional music recordings in the 21st century are engineered to precise standards with an unmatched rhythmic or tuning accuracy. That art is beautiful in its own way; nonetheless, that is not my intention here.No music on this site has been edited or altered beyond defining the start and end of the recording files and compressing them to the all-too-common MP3 format (lossless FLACs are available). I performed these with over two decades of experience and practice at the piano but without intentional rehearsal or visual music references. There are patterns to my musical style no different than patterns to the way I walk or talk, but the decisions I made about what to play were spur-of-the-moment.I hope you will join me on this improvisational journey and take a step on a musical road less traveled to experience the beauty of spontaneous inspiration.
How to Listen
The first improvisation, "The Journey Begins," along with 10-second samples of all pieces are available with a free account with no payment method required. To listen further, sign up for a paid membership starting at $2/mo. All members get access to two new improvisations every month, but higher paid tiers get access to a greater number of previous releases.While music is far from free to create, it can free the mind from life's troubles unlike anything else.
